Bum's Ceremony

 

We were lucky with the weather for Bum the dog’s ceremony in West Princes Street Gardens.

 

The Lord Provost, John C. Wilson chairman of the Edinburgh / San Diego Sister City Association and Brian said a few words after Shannon the Cannon fired the One o’ Clock Gun.

 

Pipe Major Anderson played for the ceremony and a proclamation from the Mayor of San Diego was read out. A similar ceremony was held at Bum’s statue in San Diego at the same time.

 

A first class buffet prepared by Kit, Stella, Leigh, Isobel, Cath and Ian was served in the Lindisfarne Room, St. Cuthbert’s Church following the ceremony. Kit’s sister Isobel entertained everybody by telling the story of the legend of Greyfriars Bobby.

 

The photograph taken by John shows Isobel, Brian and John C. Wilson in the at the buffet. My mate Ian baked a One o’Clock Gun cake for the event. I’m at the bottom of the photograph keeping an eye on it.
