Only a couple of days...
...till Floral Clock Day on the 9th.
The idea for the Floral Clock came from a display in Princes Street Gardens to celebrate the King Edward VII’s coronation. The King first took a trip to North Berwick on the train when he was a student at Edinburgh University. He liked the town so much that he recommended it to all of his friends.
When he came back to visit his relatives after he was crowned, he planted a tree in Quality Street. Tich told me he stayed at the caravan park but I think he’s kiddin’ me on.
I always make a point of stopping at the tree when me and Kit pop down to the town to get John a fish supper.
After Shannon the Cannon fires the One o’ Clock Gun on Tuesday, the Floral Clock cuckoo will pop out and the Lord Provost will make a speech.
