The Great McGonagall

The Great McGonagall

Isobel, Kit, Brian and yours truly received a standing ovation at North Berwick School last Wednesday.

The children and teachers loved the ‘Legend of Greyfriars Bobby’. We ran into Sarah who helped me the lay the wreath on Greyfriars Bobby Memorial Day.

Isobel is now polishing up her ‘Robert Louis Stevenson in North Berwick’ presentation which we’ll be taking to the school later in the year after the holidays.

Like Isobel, the Great McGonagall also loved the town which he called the ‘Scarborough of Scotland’. It’s not hard to imagine the world famous poet standing on top of the Law looking out at the Bass Rock for inspiration while he composed his immortal poem ‘Beautiful North Berwick’.

Wearing his glengarry and tartan trews he would recite the poem to the customers when he went round the pubs selling his broadsheets.

Hope you remembered to change your clocks.
